Newsletter - March 2010

The new season is at last under way, despite the dreadful weather. January and February Medals and Stablefords were cancelled due to snow and heavy rain but we are hoping the gradual improvement continues.

Unfortunately, the Pearson team is not doing as well as last year when we reached the quarter-finals. So far we have lost all our matches – at home to Sidcup, Shooters Hill and Rochester & Cobham, and also away to Shooters Hill.

In the Mail on Sunday competition, we were beaten by Woodlands (away) by 3 matches to 2, with Kate Brown and Doreen Shaw winning their matches. Doreen will partner Dorothy Featherstone in the Daily Mail Foursomes and they have drawn Park Wood in the first round.

In Kent competitions, we have drawn Nizels at home in the Tappin Trophy, Rochester & Cobham away in the mixed Captains Cup, Rochester & Cobham (again!) this time at home in the Coombe Cup (for players aged 68 and over) and several members have entered the individual Three Feathers competitions.

The draw for the Ladies’ club singles knockout competitions, the Scott Cup and the Bunnies Cup, has been done. As well as being posted on the noticeboard, you can check out the draws on this website. Just click on the option from the menu.

There is a full calendar of competitions for members of all levels and we hope to see an increase in the number of people playing every week.

All club competition results are now posted on the HowDidIDo website (www.howdidido.co.uk), as are the updated handicaps which show both Active and Inactive handicaps.

The results and handicaps are also updated on this website. Click on the button below to check them out.

Remember you must have an Active handicap to compete in Club competitions, although you can play in order to make your handicap Active (you need to submit 3 cards to do that). If you haven't looked at the site, it is well worth a visit. If you have any queries about handicaps, contact Dawn Bell, the Handicap Secretary, on 01689 817722 (evenings).

If you have any queries, please email me on sarlane@aol.com or call me on 020 8318 3097 (evenings) and I will try to help.
