The Christmas Shotgun 9th January 2011

On the morning of the 5th December 2007 the members of High Elms Golf Club were due to come together for their annual shotgun event. However, after one of the worst snowfalls in November, the event was postponed for 2 weeks. Time came and went and the snow lay deep and crisp and even across the land. It was decided to reschedule for the new year. The players assembled on a very cold and frosty morning but all were in good spirits. At 8am the rocket went off and play began.

Everyone was still in good spirits by the time they got back to the club house, even if they were on the cold side. After a few, drinks, the formalities began. Ian Turner and Sandra Vaughan were on hand to conduct the proceedings as their last official event as Captains of the club, although Ian did seem to do more of the talking.

Once the raffle was out of the way, the prizes were awarded. The results of the shotgun were as follows:

After the formalities were over, a good crowd of members stayed in the dining room to enjoy a delicious Christmas feast. Many thanks to Carol and the staff for putting on a wonderful dinner, with all the trimmings. The roast potatoes, as always were, as Asbo would say, AWESOME !! Even had crackers to go with the meal.
